Firefighters have been called to a house in north London where they battled a blaze which began in a bedroom and caused the house to collapse, causing a fire.
Firefighters and police responded to the fire at a home on the Royal Oak Road in London’s west on Monday.
A neighbour of the man who died in the fire told the Metropolitan Police that his family were at the house for a birthday party.
The man said he heard “a bang and then a massive bang”.
The Metropolitan Police said they were treating the fire as suspicious and that officers were on the scene in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
It is not yet clear how the blaze started.
The fire has so far caused £40,000 in damage.
